Norman General

Here are a couple quick shots of figure I painted up to serve as a command figure for my Normans. He's from Old Glory 25's just like the other Normans.

In other news, the wife and I are going to Historicon later this month. I've never been, and she agreed that it should be fun, so we're both excited for the trip out to Pennsylvania. I hope to relax, play some games, meet some people (particularly those from our area), and spend more money than I should.

HIC EST ARTORIUS PENDRACONIS, REX BRITTANIAE

I thought I would share my newly painted figure of Arthur from Old Glory 25's. I was very impressed with the quality of the set he came in relative to their super low price, as well as the quality of the pack of 'Upper Class Saxons' I purchased as well from their Age of Arthur range. The shield is a transfer that I designed myself and printed off on some water-slide paper. It was inspired by Bernard Cornwell's Warlord Chronicles.

There he is: the once and future king.

And as a special bonus, here's one of those Saxons I mentioned:

A few miscellaneous

The Official Wife(tm) and I just purchased a new Nikon D60 Digital SLR yesterday, so, needless to say, I've been taking plenty of miniatures pictures. Here are a few miscellaneous shots I took during my photo session today:

Here we have a friendly Norseman, ready to cleave your skull and send you to Odin's feast hall. (Foundry viking)

Umm. Your bits are hanging out, pal. Careful with that axe! (Foundry viking berserker)

You may recognize these fine chaps from previous posts. (Blacktree Designs HYW Ranges)

"Do you bite your thumb at us, sir?"

Jaime Lannister aka "The Kingslayer" from GRR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, courtesy of Dark Sword.

A nice shot of Jon Snow (of aforementioned GRRM series) in a vignette I made (also by Dark Sword).

It's a Norman invasion!

Well, I've painted up some Old Glory 25's Norman heavy cavalry so here are some pictures. Old Glory's sculpts can be a bit uninspiring, but for the price, they paint up quite nicely I think.

Some longbows

Here are a couple quick snaps of some longbowmen in an overgrown field:

Some more HYW English pictures

Here are some more (the figures are all from Black Tree Designs, who make fabulous figures, but have terrible customer service, unfortunately):

Above we see Prince Edward of Woodstock and some of his knights and men-at-arms, including John Lord Mohun of Dunster, Lord Scales, and Richard de Beaumont, who bore the Black Prince's banner at Crecy.

Above is a close up of Sirs Omfrey Bassingbourne and William FitzWarin.

More of the knights and M-a-A's from a different angle.

Some men with halberds and voulges.

Assorted spearmen.

Longbow pictures (and painting!) are next. I also have a boatload of Normans on the way from Old Glory (whose prices are amazingly cheap when you join with a membership), so I will be painting on those soon as well, and will get some pictures up as they are finished.

"Let the boy win his spurs."

Here is a picture of the Hundred Years War English I have been painting as an inaugural post. The flash messes with the color a bit. More non-flash pictures to follow.
